Pappy smiled as she flew through Wynsiph’s sleepy skies. The morning had only just begun and the quaint little town’s residents had just started to venture out of their homes.

It had been a busy few days. Inka had helped her decorate the room for the new wyngling and had then insisted on redecorating Silas’ room as well. Pappy’s muscles still ached from moving all the furniture, but in the end both rooms did look really good.

As Pappy flew closer to the Nook, a green wyngro in the distance caught her eye. She recognised his masked face and bright orange almost instantly. She had been meaning to talk to him again, after what Inka had said she wanted to spend more time with the male, to see if he would check off the last of Inka’s ‘being in love’ requirements. Deciding that now was as good a time as any, Pappy made her way towards him.

“Hi, Wieli!” she waved at him when she was sure she was within earshot.

The perplexing sound of hearing his name caused the wyngro to immediately search the area, until pappy landed softed near him.

“How are you?” she asked, giving the nervous wyngro a sweet smile.

"Oh! H-hello, Pappy." he couldn't help but stammer, a faint blush washing his cheeks as he recalled the last time they met. "D-doing well, thanks. Yourself?"

“I’ve been alright, thank you.” she couldn’t help but notice how nervous the wyngro sounded. “You know, I’ve been meaning to talk to you again, ever since…” Pappy stopped, trying to find the right words as her own cheeks flushed. “You know…I was hoping we could talk a bit, maybe even spend some time together?”

Pappy smiled, feeling slightly nervous now, hoping he would be willing to give her a second chance.

"D-don't worry about it!" Wiel quickly tried to deflect, waving his paws in front of him in an attempt to ease her mind. He then looked surprised.

"You.. actually... want to be seen with me still?"

“Of course I do Wieli,” she said, tilting her head in confusion, “Why wouldn’t I want to? You’re really sweet and you seem like a really nice wyngro.”

"Oh," he simply replied, a small smile forming on his face with her kind words. "I just thought... I don't know." He admitted, feeling a bit foolish and rubbing the back of his neck nervously.

"I guess I felt bad for what happened and having to leave so suddenly,"

To his surprise, it actually felt good to speak with Pappy again and possibly get these nagging feeling off his chest.

“You shouldn’t feel bad, I’m so sorry I dragged you into that before I looked all the way through the book.” Pappy laughed lightly, it was nice to see the smile on his face, she really hoped she could melt some more of those nerves away and make it wider. “I don’t blame you for rushing out, if it weren’t my house I may have too,” she joked, “But I do hope you’ll give me another chance.”

Pappy's words were reassuring. He couldn't help but laugh along with her and was certainly relieved that this whole situation seemed to favour them ending on better terms than previously expected. "I don't hold any of this against you, don't worry." He assured her, flashing a sympathetic smile. "We may have even been the best wyngrew to learn this information with." He admitted after a bit of thought. "I could see this playing out much worst for either of us with a more.. knowledgeable gro."

“Oh wow, you’re right,” Pappy hadn’t even thought about that possibility, no wonder Inka had been so flustered with her.

“Well I’m glad it was you then, Wieli!” she smiled, clearly relieved things had not gone badly.

“Truth is, I’m really torn right now. I do still want an egg, but after speaking to a friend I realise there is more to this than I first thought.” Pappy trailed off her thoughts heading back to her conversation with the orange imp, her ears drooped a little at the memory. Inka had been so insistent on an adopted egg, but she just couldn’t do it. Silas had been special, there had been an instant connection, something she attributed to the fact that the little hatchling had reminded her of her first meeting with Inka. Any other egg just wouldn’t be the same.

"I'm sorry," Wiel tried to comfort her, knowing full well that having or making an egg wasn't as simple as either of them had thought at first. "I.. actually had some friends help me do some research as well." The shy boy confided in Pappy, hoping to help let her know he had an idea of where she was coming from.

“Oh, that’s good to hear.” she smiled sweetly, happy to hear that they had both at least gained some knowledge out of their embarrassment.

"I'm sure you've already thought of it but, have you tried scouting The Nook?" He paused a moment before adding on a realisation to this question. "Or.. did you mean you still want to have one?"

Pappy thought for a moment before answering “Well I actually did head to the Nook, but you know…” Pappy paused for a moment, trying to find the words, “It sounds silly, but I just couldn’t do it. None of them felt right. With Silas I knew he was my son when I first saw him, but…” Pappy shrugged, “So yeah...I do think I still want to have my own egg.”

Surprise was clearly painted across Wiel’s face.

"W-well at least you tried," he attempted to encourage her, though his ears drooped slightly at her troubles. "Glad to hear you didn't let our rough encounter dissuade you from, uh, making your own egg!"

Giving her a nervous smile, the green wyngro honestly didn't know if he should be encouraging this conversation or not. Surely it was a sore spot for the poor quad.

“Never give up, right?” Pappy giggled. Deciding it was definitely worth the risk, Pappy took a deep breath, and asked what had been on her mind.

“I know it may seem ummm...odd, I guess? My friend said something about needing to love the wyngro you were making an egg with so umm…” Pappy stared at the ground, her eyes suddenly transfixed by the grass at her paws.

“I was wondering if maybe we could get to know each other and see if there was any chance...”

"L-love?!" Wiel repeated, his face flushing a bright orange at this sudden proposal.  Another wyngrew actually thought he was worth that level of affection?

"I-I-I.. uh.. wha--??," he tried to form a response, but they all failed him.

"I.. s-sure?" came the eventual forced mumble, barely audible beneath the biped’s breath.

Pappy’s ears shot up in excitement and she nearly hugged the green gro in front of her, but stopped herself when she noticed the bright blush the coloured his face.

With a measured effort she slowly approached his side and sat down, gently leaning over to look Wieli in the eyes and smiling happily at him.

“Thank you.” she said gently.

Reluctantly meeting the silver quad's gaze, the frazzled male took a deep breath. Nodding at her with a bashful smile, Wiel tried to calm himself and get over this frozen disposition. Magic glands glowing a bright red, Wiel ran his paws down his face as his body temperature began to rise.

"You're w-welcome," he told her, though completely unsure if what he just agreed to had actually sunk in. "S-sorry, I'm just... surprised? I h-hope I'm not being rude."

“Oh, don’t apologise,” she said happily, “You’re not rude at all. Sorry for surprising you yet again.” Pappy laughed apologetically, “I don’t have much practise talking to others, so sorry if I’m a bit blunt.” she apologised, hoping the biped wasn’t about to melt his way through the very ground.

"Eheh, n-no worries. It's not that hard to surprise me, to tell you the truth," Wiel admitted, scratching lightly at his right temple. "I'm not great with other wyngrew either-- at least not at first. So we kind of have that in common?" he chuckled, trying to gain control of his nerves again.

“You’re really good at fire magic, right?” Pappy asked, noticing the glowing magic glands, silently hoping the distraction would help calm the nerves she had frazzled.

"I guess you could say I'm pretty good at fire magic," he thought out loud, gladly taking the bait of this much-needed distraction. "I really enjoy using it at least. If that counts for anything..." Awkwardly pausing after these words, Wiel stupidly remembered he should be asking about her interests as well. They were supposed to be getting to know each other, after all. "Do.. do you have a magic you like?"

Pappy gladly told him about her interest in light magic, and the two began a casual conversation of other topics as well.

Gardening, favorite colors, dislike of swimming and Pappy’s love for flying. They talked about Wieli’s roommates and how one loved to collect gems and...

Suddenly the jovial mood was gone, replaced by what appeared to be dread.

"Oh.. Oh no," came the shaken Wieli’s words as a previously forgotten thought smacked him upside the head, "I..I was supposed to be meeting up with a friend."

Quickly eyeing the sky for an indication of the time, his mood continued to plummet. "Oh man, she is going to be so mad at me."

“Oh, I’m so sorry!” Pappy said hurriedly, “I didn’t mean to take up so much of your time!” She looked on at the ever increasing worry on Wilei’s face, “Would you mind if I tagged along?” “Um," He began, bringing an index paw to his chin in thought. "I suppose there is no harm in that. In fact, it sounds great!"

As the two approached the pink wyngro, Wieli called out, "Adina!"

He waved one of his hands in the air, hoping to catch her attention sooner as to not catch the girl off-guard.

The pink wyngro spun, looking in all directions, eventually seeing the green figure waving to her in the distance.

When she recognised the voice and the shade of green, she started toward Wieli to meet up with him. She looked a bit perturbed at his late arrival, but, seeing who shared his trek beside him, Adina decided to spare giving him an ear full as she wouldn't want to embarrass the biped.

"Hello!" she spoke quite excitedly. "I'm thrilled you could make it!" the pink wyngro could barely contain her enthusiasm.

Pappy breathed a sigh of relief, glad to see Adina wasn’t too mad.

Faintly returning the girl's joy as they approached, Wieli gave her another meek wave.

"Hey Adina, sorry I'm late," his apology obviously genuine. "Hope you aren't too mad.. I just so happened to run into Pappy here on my way over and lost track of time." Motioning to the silver quad, he gave her a worried smile as she was left to introduce herself.

“Hi!” Pappy chirped excitedly,  offering the pink biped a smile and a wave “I hope you don't mind that I tagged along, I wanted to apologise for making Wieli late for meeting you.” the quad now also recognising Adina from her first class, though regrettably, they had never gotten around to talking to one another.

Adina continued to smile as the two spoke to her. It seemed innocent enough. She knew it would be a lot more awkward of an encounter for Wieli, and he didn't seem to be showing any signs that something happened between the two.

The young girl decided to give Wieli a hard time anyway and shot him a mischievous grin as if she knew something happened between them.

"No apology necessary," Adina waved off the female wyngro's concern, much to the confusion of her roommate. Even with the added company, he expected the pink wyngro to be a little sour at him. Yet she seemed almost.. happy by the delay.

"I'm not mad, Wieli, I mean.. how could I be?" Adina giggled as she winked at him, hopefully flustering him.

Adina's attention back on him, that sly expression accompanying her words finally made everything click in the clueless boy's mind. A deep blush coming to his face, Wiel swiftly glanced down at Pappy to ensure she couldn't see before shaking his head and paws at whatever idea had raced through Adina's head.

Not letting either of them get another word in edgewise, Adina looked toward the path they would be trekking through, "Are you guys ready to get to it? I mean, you are joining us right, Pappy?"

“Oh yes please!” Pappy eagerly accepted the invitation, blissfully unaware of the unspoken conversation the two friends were having.

A big thank you to the wonderful Kris and Mav for helping me write this story through the magic of roleplays!
And thank you to Nestly for shortening and fixing my formattinh for me. Initially, I had tried to simply summarise it, but there was just too much fun development between these guys and I kept finding myself unable to cut things out haha.

Adina belongs to LadyKrisis
Wieli belongs to MaverickStudio

That was a fun little "chapter" of this story! I really like them!

By the way, how exactly do you pronounce Wieli's name?
